#chefslimited French Press 34 OZ - Coffee Press

#chefslimited French Press 34 OZ - Coffee Press

Chef's Limited has designed a beautiful french press that is great for any fresh brewed beverage. The sleek design is encased in stainless stell and has a generous sized handle that sticks out far enough that when handling after brewing your hot beverage, doesn't burn you. The strainer is attached by a long stem that can be moved up and down by pulling the knob on the top of the lid. This is what will "Press" your base, whether it be coffee grounds, tea leaves, or fruit puree to the bottom of the fluid and keep it from being included in your actual drink.

The instructions provided, are very simple and easy to follow. The french press is not dishwasher safe and should not be used on a stove top or in the oven. This will damage the french press.

The glass pitcher stands about 10"tall and is about 4" wide. It is advertised to hold 34oz of fluid which would be about 4.25 cups, yet the listing indicates that it holds 8 cups. In reality, based on the instructions, which states to fill the glass about 1" below the spout, it actually holds 6 cups of fluid.

There are no measurement lines on the french press and since the french press doesn't come in a box, other than the shipping box, I had no way of knowing how much fluid to expect it to hold. In order to be sure that I was using the appropriate amount of water to coffee grounds, I had to use my actual coffee pot, but a measuring cup could be used. Of course, if you are using tea leaves or fruit, measuring the water may not be needed.

I was pleased to see that the snug fit of the press kept the grounds from my coffee out of my actual drink. There is nothing worse than drinking a coffee that you have to chew.

As I mentioned, the french press is not dishwasher safe, but cleaning is pretty easy. Simply handwash with a soft cloth or sponge in hot water and rinse well. I found using a cloth for the filter piece worked best, however, due to using coffee grounds, a few bits of coffee did get stuck in between the filter edge (which is not sealed) and the frame of the press. It would be helpful to have a small scrub brush included in order to get these small particles out.

All in all, the ease of use and its effectiveness for a great drink is a definite. I just feel that there could be some perfecting done to really make this superior to the others out on the market.

I received this French Press for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. While it does have its faults, the good qualities (making a fine drink) outweigh those faults and so a 4 star rating is reasonable and accurate in my opinion.
