One of the most difficult things about having a functional kitchen is having oven mitts that are neither scorched/burnt, nor stained and nasty (that's going near my family's food after all!). That's my first love about these silicone oven mitts, they're super easy to fit into the dishwasher - making them easy to clean and sanitize (this includes the silicone mat too!). A quick test and I found I could easily pick up the coffee pot full of hot, fresh coffee - a secondary test of checking it while cooking egg drop soup, the part where you have to hover over the bubbling hot pot to pour/whisk the egg in and get your hands slowly cooked with steam....not an issue with the gloves on! Added bonus is that silicone has an anti-slip quality, something that makes carrying hot things so much safer and helps hold a hot pot or bowl full of that night's dinner in one place on the table or counter when hungry hands are heading in for firsts and seconds. Even the inside of the gloves have little 'nubs' to help your keep your hands inside of the gloves as well as keep the sides from sticking together as well as a convenient little hole in the side to let you hang them up and out of the way when not in use!
